If I Had What Others Have…?

There Is Green Grass on Every Side

If I had her courage, I’d be successful. If I had his money, I’d spend it on useful things. If I had her voice, I’d become a professional singer. If I had his camera, I’d become a photographer. If I had her looks, I’d model. If I had his skills, I’d be a writer by now. If I had her talent, I’d be unstoppable…

For some reason there is a tendency for people to be great at seeing the potential and possibilities which others have. When it comes to their own life however, the perspective is often less hopeful. But here’s the truth: grass is grass, no matter on which side of the fence you’re standing.

Look into your own life. Hop off the negative-ride for this moment and be honest with yourself: what do you love doing? Which skills do you have? Where is you potential? What are your unused talents and resources – which you’d probably see as an outside viewer and think “If only I had…”?

If it helps, write it down. Take a pen and paper and note down your skills, talents, positive character traits as well as all those things which you’d consider potential on which you can build.
Play your strengths, give it a try and see what you can create with what you already are and have. There’s nothing to loose and everything to gain. You’ll be surprised to see how much you actually rock.
