Creating Happiness

Don't Worry - Be Happy ;-)

Don't Worry - Be Happy ;-)

People want to be happy. Many pursue goals and nourish future hopes thinking that once they reach that future or aim, they could be happy at last. Yes, surely reaching something that you have been working for creates good feelings, it’s fun, but it is not the key to a joyful life.

This is a very positive and also comforting thought as it tells us that our happiness does not depend on the events we will encounter in a distant future. It’s right here. Right now.

A Spring Cleanse for Your Home

Get a Fresh Start into Spring =)

Get a Fresh Start into Spring =)

Oh yes, spring is on the way over here in Germany. =) We’ve had a few warmer days – and as the sun is shining through our windows, I’m all inspired for a clean-up and clear-out session. Time to get rid of the old things to make room for a fresh start into spring. I always feel that spring is a good time to let go of some things in order to create room and energy for a real head-start into the year.

Deliberately Look for the Good Things - and Watch Them Increase =)

Deliberately Look for the Good Things - and Watch Them Increase =)

Yes, there are times when life is far more challenging and it’s more difficult to keep going with a positive mindset. Sometimes these challenges arise in the form of “difficulties” of various kinds or strokes of fate. Sometimes they are just a general negative vibe that you find yourself faced with.

In situations like these, your best bet is to stay aware, so that you don’t slip (back) into negative patterns of thinking. That is easily said, I know. But let’s try this anyway. ;-)

Gotta love Creativity =)

Gotta love Creativity =)

I came across the website of this amazing artist: Jason deCaires Taylor. He has installed several projects of underwater sculptures which function as artificial reefs, artwork and also attractions for divers at the same time.

It’s great to see how love for the seas sparked off such a creative project. Reading his biography was a great reminder of how things can just make sense in the long run and how different aspects of experience can be interwoven into something much larger.

Green Energy – a Breathing Exercise

Take a Walk to Recharge Your Batteries =)

Take a Walk to Recharge Your Batteries =)

A great way for me to get new energy is a walk in the forest. I love being there: the songs of the birds, the scent of earth and leaves, the fresh air – it always gives me fresh energy. There are so many little things along the way, beautiful mosses, entwined roots, tall trees, small trees, animals, the silence around me and the sound of my feet on the path.

When I’m on my way back, my thoughts are much more clear and calm. The little obstacles in life appear less important and I’m centered. It works every time. The magic of green energy ;-)

Bring Clarity into Your Agenda =)

Bring Clarity into Your Agenda =)

There are times in life in which the danger of getting lost in too many projects is great. For some of us this may even be a permanent condition. All the things we could and want to do just won’t fit into the hours of the day, the days of the week, months, year. New ideas keep coming up and as we’re starting with another new “thing” we put the other projects aside, just for now. Unfinished business. We put this off until next week, do a bit of the other, begin something new and meanwhile forget about our priority projects, deadlines and goals.

The Truth about Discipline

by Shilan on January 5, 2012

in Motivation, Some Thoughts

Discipline, Anyone?

Discipline, Anyone?

Ever been in one of those “I have to be more strict with myself”-moods?
“This time I mean it. I’m going to be soooo disciplined about this now.”
…and as you’re thinking “discipline” something inside your mind already frowns on the idea.

The concept of discipline has a very negative edge to it for a lot of people. It feels like a tough way in which you have to be hard, cold and strict with yourself. An outside corset. Something that you have to force yourself to do. Definitely not fun. Disci-blergh! And still it looks like something that we have to have in order to be successful. But it’s so damn hard. So blergh. Is it though?

So Spoke the Fortune Cookie =)

So Spoke the Fortune Cookie =)

Weeks have gone by without affirmations. Well here’s our new one; the one for the first week of the new year. It came in the form of the last fortune cookie, left over from a New Year’s Eve get-together after our friends had gone home.
Yep, it hits the spot. In fact I like it so much I’d even make it affirmation of the year.

One simple and effective phrase:

“Use your talents!”

About time we all did I think. Go create! ;-)

Grow Your Dreams =)

Grow Your Dreams =)

What are you good at? Which are your talents and favorite skills?
We grow up in a world in which we are generally confronted with the image of work=bad and weekend=good. In my opinion this is one of the saddest mindsets you can possibly end up with. Instead of only going after jobs which you “have to do for the money” find room for the things you’d really love to do and at which you are really good.
